I’ve set up this website and blog for a few reasons… Often I’ll get ideas for new projects needing a home on the web, or I’ll have questions I’d like to toss out into the void and maybe—someday—circle back to with answers. Right now, though, the immediate motivation is that I’m at a crossroads: come June 2025, I’ll need to decide whether to keep going with my doctoral studies or to step away from school, at least for a while.
I’m also considering another job change (I think), so it feels like a natural moment either to take a break from academic aspirations or to double down and maybe shift my research direction.
If I do push forward in September, there’s a specific research area catching my attention, making this blog and website particularly useful. My PhD would be in Education with a focus on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) at the University of Saskatchewan. I’m especially intrigued by exploring the future of higher education—how creativity, knowledge construction, integration, and dissemination are evolving amidst massive, rapid shifts driven by artificial intelligence.
I’ll unpack all this more fully in a later post, but despite journals overflowing with AI-related papers, I think my blend of arts and tech experience, coupled with my background in higher education administration, gives me a unique angle into these conversations. The preview for all this is attached to the post…
Anyway, this is mostly just a “hello” post to kick things off. Until next time…
